CALDWELL, Idaho –
Abbey Shirts punched her ticket to the NAIA Indoor National Championships with a win in the 1,000-meters and helped the 4x800-meter relay team record a Top-10 NAIA time, as the College of Idaho women's track and field team had a big weekend at the Polar Vortex Classic at Caldwell High.

Shirts won the 1,000-meters on Saturday, with her time of 2:57.65 – the No. 6 mark in the NAIA this season, well inside the Top-16 positions to qualify for Indoor Nationals in two weeks in Yankton, S.D. She followed it up Sunday by joining
Payton Durocher,
Ellyse Tingelstad and
Sage Martin to win the 4x800 relay, setting a new school record (9:30.43) that was the No. 5 time in the NAIA.
C of I had success in the field events – as
Charlotte Wilson set a new school record in the long jump (5.42 meters / 17-feet, 9.5 inches),
Morgan Harrison won the high jump (1.56 meters / 5-feet 1.25 inches), with
Catylynn Duff winning both throws, setting a personal best mark in the shot put (13.24 meters / 43-feet, 5.25 inches) and dominating the weight throw by over three meters (16.90 meters / 55-feet, 3.5 inches).
Jessica Dorohov had a quality weekend in the sprints, winning the 200-meters (26.58), while taking third in the 60-meters (8.16); with
Kiersten Lancaster dominating the 60-meter hurdles (9.05).
In the distance events,
Erin Moyer earned a victory in the 5,000-meters (18:14.78).
