CALDWELL, Idaho – School records from
Lane Maher and
Stephen Campbell set the tone for the College of Idaho at their final regular-season indoor/outdoor meet of the season, the Polar Vortex Classic at Caldwell High.
For the second straight meet, Maher rewrote the 60-meter hurdles record, winning the event with a time of 8.51 seconds – but broke the school record in the preliminary heats (8.47).
Campbell made a big statement in his first meet of 2021, winning the shot put by nearly four feet, unleashing a mark of 54-feet, 1.25 inches – the No. 5 mark in the NAIA this winter. His teammates were also outstanding, as the Yotes took the top five spots in the event – including
Bryan Terry (50-6.25),
Alec Kuzmack (45-10)
Collin Glass (45-0) and
Zach Rickard (41-10). Terry also won the weight throw (54-9).
Kade Setoki earned a win in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet, 8.25 inches.
On the track,
Declan Friedli placed second in the finals of the 60-meters (7.25), with
Ian Jackson taking second in the mile run (4:28.14) and
Cole Campbell taking second in the 5,000-meters (16:05.39).
The Yotes will close out the indoor campaign in two weeks at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Yankton, S.D.
