PROVO, Utah -
Kendrik Caldwell posted a personal best Day 1 score in the heptathlon, as a trio of College of Idaho multi-event athletes competed at the BYU Indoor #3 inside Smith Fieldhouse.
Caldwell scored 2,609 points - fueled by outstanding marks in both the high jump and shot put - looking to surpass the 4,509 points he recorded at the C of I Icebreaker, currently the No. 13 mark in the NAIA.
The junior opened the day with a 7.45 second effort in the 60-yard dash and followed it by leaping 20-feet, 10.5-inches. Caldwell backed it up in the shot put, launching a mark of 35-feet, 7.25-inches and capped the day by clearing 6-feet, 0.5-inches in the high jump.
Caleb Brown closed out Day 1 with 2,409 points - thanks to a quality 36-feet, 11-inch mark in the shot put, while
Nate Griswold ended the first day with 2,189 points.
Day 2 will begin with the 60-meter hurdles at Noon.
