Jake O'Neil was named today Embrace Health/Cascade Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office.
The redshirt freshman, from Fruitland, led the Yotes to back-to-back wins over Multnomah University, helping C of I improve to 7-2 this year against non-Division I opponents.
O'Neil posted his third and fourth double-doubles of the season, combining to average 26.5 points and 13 rebounds in the two victories. He opened the weekend with 24 points and 14 rebounds in Friday's win, while posting a career-high 29 points and 12 rebounds in the Saturday victory.
The transfer made 21-of-33 field goal attempts - including three 3-pointers - adding nine total assists, a blocked shot and two steals.
For the year, O'Neil is averaging 10.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
The Yotes open up play in the Best-of-3 Cascade Conference Championships on Thursday night, traveling to Lewis-Clark State, for a 7 p.m. (PT) tip-off.
