ASHLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho concluded a weekend split in Oregon with a 60-49 loss at Southern Oregon on Saturday afternoon in the Lithia Motors Pavilion.
The Raiders (9-1, 3-0 CCC) have now won seven consecutive games to sit atop the conference standings.
Kami Walk led the Raiders with 12 points and 14 rebounds in the victory as SOU jumped out to a 9-2 lead early and never trailed.
As has been the case throughout the early season, the Yotes (7-4, 1-2) continued to battle, cutting the lead down to two at multiple points in the second quarter before a 6-0 run helped propel the Raiders to a 30-22 advantage heading into halftime.
Seeing expanded minutes early in the second half, senior
Mattie Creager went a perfect 3-for-3 with six points over the first four minutes of the third quarter to keep C of I close at 35-32.
SOU capped the third quarter with a 9-0 run to make the score 44-32 entering the final 10 minutes.
Seven straight points by
Jada Reed and a 3-pointer by
Allie Cannon cut the lead to 56-49 with 2:02 left in the game, however that was as close as the Yotes would get with the Raiders tallying the final four points of the game at the free throw line to secure the win.
Cannon and Reed led the scoring for C of I with 11 points each.
Lexi Mitchell added nine points and seven rebounds.
Sienna Riggle had eight rebounds for the contest.
The Yotes have a week off from conference play next week and will next take the floor on Dec. 14 at home for an exhibition against Northwest Nazarene.
