Coyotes Roll to Domino's Classic Title, 94-73

CALDWELL, Idaho - FIve College of Idaho players scored in double-figures, as the Coyotes used a huge second half to claim the Domino's Classic title, stopping Simpson University, 94-73, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Johnny Radford scored all 17 of his points after the break, as the No. 18-ranked Yotes used a 31-8 run to break open a close game - completing a weekend sweep on their home floor.

Leading 43-39 early in the second half, quick buckets from Tyler Robinett, Drew Wyman and Caden Handran, pushing the lead to 10. Enter Radford, who scored 11-straight points, including 3-pointers on three straight possessions,, as the lead ballooned to 64-44. C of I was on cruise control the rest of the way, - pushing the lead to as many as 30.

The two teams traded first half runs,- C of I using an 8-0 run, keyed by 3-pointers from Ricardo Time and Derek Wadsworth, to lead 10-6., The Redhawks (2-5) would answer with an Aaron Knauss triple, part of a 7-0 run, tu take a 19-17 lead, only to have the Yotes rattle off 13-points - as Time had a 3-point play and Robinett added four points, giving the hosts a 32-21 edge.

C of I made 53-percent of their field goals on the night and committed a season-low eight turnovers, while holding a 44-29 rebound edge.

Jake O'Neil scored a season-high 14 points, Charles Elzie scored 12 and added four steals, with Robinett and Wyman each tallying 10.  Time scored all eight of his points in the first half, while Handran posted six points, five rebounds and five assists.

Weston VandenHzael led SU with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Drey Ubas scored 17 off the bench. The Redhawks made 57-percent of their first half field goals, but were held to just 36-percent shooting after the break.

C of I closes a stretch of four games in seven days on Tuesday, opening Cascade Conference play with a 7;30 p.m. match-up vs. rival Eastern Oregon.
