Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Zac Dean - C of I SID Intern

Yotes Post Senior Day Shutout of Carroll College

CALDWELL, Idaho - Two second half goals by Kristian Quiros would guide the College of Idaho to a 3-0 Senior Day win over Carroll at a wet and windy Simplot Stadium.

The Yotes (8-4-1, 6-4-1 CCC) had their backs against the wall in the first 45 minutes, as a 30 mile-per-hour gale and excessive rain were against the home side.

Despite a 9-2 shot advantage by Carroll in the first half, Ben Garrick would find the opening goal in the 15th minute after a Marek Kadlec thru ball found Garrick for a slot between the keeper's legs to put C of I up 1-0.

The Saints (4-7-2, 4-5-2 CCC) had their best chance to score just before the break with a lofting ball into the penalty box for a header, but the play was nullified with an offsides call.

In the 52nd minute, a Carroll foul set up a 28-yard free kick blast from Kristian Quiros to double the lead for the Yotes.

Carroll looked to get on the board late with an 82nd minute shot from Santiago Morrazzani just inside C of I's penalty box, but C of I goalkeeper Zac Dean made a diving save to his right to keep the game out of reach for the away side.

In the 89th minute, a Caio Pereira corner kick would drop into Carroll's penalty box and find Kristian Quiros at the back post to get his sixth goal of the season and seal the victory for the Yotes.

Carroll goalkeeper Kaden Connor made seven saves in the match, while C of I's Zac Dean made six saves in the shutout win.

In a very even match, C of I led the way with a 17-16 shot edge, while Carroll led 5-4 in corner kicks.

The win was the final home game for seniors Zac Dean, Andrew Lauritzen, Andy Sanchez, Thomas Bartlett, Lucas Thorne, Jack O'Leary and student assistant Josh Goicoechea.

The Yotes travel to Washington for a 2-game stretch to wrap up regular season play, starting with Evergreen on Friday. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. (PT).
