CALDWELL, Idaho - Four years ago, Southern Oregon defeated College of Idaho in the semifinals of the PNCLL Championships en route to an MCLA Tournament appearance.. Fast-forward to today, where the Coyotes scored early and often, rolling past the Raiders, 29-2, on Senior Day at Simplot Stadium.
Seven seniors played their final game on the home pitch - as the Yotes (2-0) scored three goals in the opening two minutes and built a 17-1 lead at halftime.
R.J. Walker scored five goals with three assists;
Servando Guerrero had four goals and an assist;
Cole Baker had two goals;
Dami Ashaye had a goal, two assists and seven ground balls;
Avyion Fisher won 14-of-17 faceoffs, with both
Logan Buckley and
Brad Stewart key on the defensive end.
Hank Ontiveros led C of I with six goals and five assists, including three of the 11 first quarter Coyote goals. In all, 12 different Coyotes recorded at least a goal or an assist.
C of I hits the road next weekend with games in Bozeman against Montana State and North Dakota State.
