NAMPA, Idaho – Two school records and two national marks headlined the opening day for the College of Idaho women's track and field team at the Jackson's Invitational inside the Ford Idaho Center.
The Coyotes 4x800-meter relay team placed third in their heat – with the quartet of
Kami Hawkins,
Payton Durocher,
Abbey Shirts and
Megan McManus recording a school-record time of 9:32.52 – hitting the NAIA "A" mark and clocking the seventh-fastest time in the NAIA this winter.
They were joined by
Kiersten Lancaster, as the junior reached Saturday's final of 60-meter hurdles, recording a time of 9.02 seconds – meeting the NAIA "B" qualifying standard.
Late in the day, sophomore
Catylynn Duff broke her own school record in the weight throw, taking second overall with a toss of 16.35 meters (53 feet, 7.75 inches) – improving her automatic NAIA national mark.
In the sprints,
Jessica Dorohov recorded a season-best time of 8.07 seconds in the 60-meter dash, with
Payton Anderson leading 10 C of I racers with a time of 26.31 seconds in the 200-meters.
Laura Henderson capped the day with a season-best mark of 4.88 meters (16 feet, 0.25 inches) in the long jump.
Day 2 begins tomorrow at 11 a.m., while three athletes will travel to Portland for competition Sunday at the University of Portland Indoor.
