EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian made 6-of-9 3-pointers in the first quarter to build a big lead, as the No. 16-ranked Beacons defeated the College of Idaho, , inside Morse Event Center.
The Beacons (22-5, 16-3 CCC) used a 22-2 run in the opening period to break the game wide open, as Morgan McKinney canned a pair of 3-pointers, part of a 15-point night.
NCU built a 41-13 lead early in the second quarter and led 48-22 – before the Yotes (12-16, 10-9 CCC) chipped away at the deficit in the second half.
Kaylee Krusemark hit a pair of third quarter 3-pointers, cutting the deficit to 60-40, with an
Emily Harwood 3-point play and a
Kate Renfro fourth quarter triple pulling the Yotes within 16 – but could not get closer.
Krusemark led C of I with 13 points – as all 12 players that saw action in the game scored at least one point.
The Beacons had four players in double-figures – including Kayce Mock, who scored 11 points and had nine rebounds. NCU made 12-of-23 3-pointers – with McKinney a perfect 3-of-3 from long range.
The loss for the Coyotes eliminated C of I from a chance at a Cascade Conference Tournament quarterfinal home game. The squad will travel tomorrow to Corban to close out the regular-season – which will determine whom and where the Yotes will play Tuesday night in their postseason opener.
