CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho men's basketball head coach
Colby Blaine has announced the addition of Boise State to the schedule tonight at 5 p.m. at ExtraMile Arena in Boise.
"The scheduling roller coaster continues," Blaine said. "We were offered and committed to playing this game 23 hours before tipoff. However, we are very excited about the opportunity to play. Our players have been working hard to develop our team and stay healthy. All we want is the opportunity to play. We have great respect for Boise State and look forward to competing against them. This will be a great chance for us to focus on ourselves and get live reps."
Fans can follow all the action with live video on the
Mountain West Network. Bob Behler and Abe Jackson will have the call on the radio locally as well in the Treasure Valley on 670 KBOI-AM.
The hole in the BSU schedule was created when Montana Western - the originally planned opponent for the Broncos on Friday - had to cancel due to COVID-19 related issues within their program.
C of I will be the third different opponent that has been on the schedule for BSU for Friday, as earlier in the week a game against Mountain West Conference foe New Mexico was postponed as well.
The Yotes (1-0) have not lost in over a calendar year and take a 26-game win streak into the contest. Blaine's team finished last season ranked No. 1 in the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Top-25 Coaches Poll. The squad was ranked No. 8 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches' Poll this year.
Friday will mark the third game of the season for the Broncos (1-1), who split a pair of games in Texas last week, falling to Houston 68-58 in their opener and handling Sam Houston State 86-55 to finish off the trip on a high note.
Boise State and C of I most recently played in 2017, with the Broncos erasing a 35-30 halftime deficit to win 74-69.
Prior to the men's game, the BSU women will host C of I at 1 p.m. That game can also be watched live on the
Mountain West Network.
In other scheduling news, the previously scheduled game between Dickinson State and the Yotes on Sunday has been canceled due to COVID-19 related issues within the program for the Blue Hawks.
