CALDWELL, Idaho – Hosting the first NAIA swimming sanctioned Virtual Meet in association history, The College of Idaho recorded three provisional national marks in the competition inside the J.A. Albertson Aquatics Center.
COMPLETE RESULTS
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NAIA allows swim programs to hold events in their own pool, with teams competing the long-course program at the same time, while streaming the event online.
Midland University of Fremont, Neb., Loyola University of New Orleans, La. and Westmont College of Santa Barbara, Calif., competed – with the Yotes winning 2-of-3 head-to-head duals and placing third in the overall team scoring.
Caroline Yannelli began her senior season with a pair of victories – winning the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.21) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.33) – hitting NAIA "B" marks.
Freshman
Kailey Owen hit an NAIA "B" mark with her win in the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.19), while placing third in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.32) and 200-yard IM (2:20.87).
Sophomore
Anna Cook earned a silver medal in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.35), with
Maddison Rice placing third in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.66) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.46).
Midland won all three duals, with Lily Harrell (100-yard backstroke, 100-yard butterfly), Rianna Mueller (400-yard IM, 1,650-yard freestyle) and Faith Guyer (200-yard IM, 100-yard freestyle) all winning two individual events. The Warriors outpointed the field with 548 points, ahead of Westmont (425), C of I (409) and Loyola (298).
C of I earned wins over Loyola (107-100) and Westmont (116-108), while dropping their dual with Midland (154-86).
The Yotes return to the pool next Saturday to meet Whitworth University in a Virtual Dual.
