CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho has announced the postponement of multiple athletic events, due to the State of Idaho moving back to Stage 2 of their Idaho Rebounds initiative.
The modified Stage 2 of the reopening initiative limits gatherings in public and private spaces to 10-or-less for the next two weeks as Idaho looks to stop the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Today's swim meet vs. Whitworth, along with tomorrow's golf match at Lewis-Clark State have been canceled, as has women's basketball games vs. Simpson University (Nov. 20-21), Boise State (Nov. 25) and Montana Western (Nov. 28), along with the men's basketball Taco Bell Shoot-Out (Nov. 27-28).
The swimming and diving team are working to comply with the new guidelines in hopes of competing in next weekend's Midland Invitational, a two-day virtual mid-season meet – utilizing staging areas, each with less than 10 people, outside of the competition area – to comply with the mandate.
The Cascade Conference recently released their updated schedules for men's and women's basketball – with games now starting on Jan. 8. Teams will play an unbalanced schedule, playing back-to-back nights against the same opponent to minimize travel and potential exposure. C of I will travel to Oregon Tech, Bushnell, Evergreen and Lewis-Clark State, hosting Walla Walla, Corban, Warner Pacific and Southern Oregon, while playing two midweek games vs. Eastern Oregon, with the teams not meeting Northwest or Multnomah.
