Coyotes Drop Overtime Match-Up to Eastern, 3-2

CALDWELL, Idaho – Ahmet Huremovic scored a pair of goals, but it was not enough for the College of Idaho, as Erik Mattice headed home the game-winner three minutes into overtime, helping Eastern Oregon steal a 3-2 victory at Simplot Stadium.

The Mountaineers (3-4-1, 1-2 CCC) forced the extra session with a goal in the 80th minute, as on a counter-attack, Javier Moran slotted a ball to Patrick Larsen, who converted from the left side.

In overtime, Larsen played a 40-yard free kick to the far post, finding the head of Mattice – giving EOU their first-ever win in Caldwell over the Yotes (3-3, 1-2).

Two pretty passes from Ben Bechor set up both goals from Huremovic – the first a cross from the end line right of the goal across the goal mouth to the waiting Huremovic, who hammered home the seventh minute counter. In the 61st minute, the duo struck again, as Bechor made a long run up the left side, slotting a pass to Huremovic at the far post for a go-ahead goal.

EOU held a commanding 13-5 edge in total shots, including a 6-2 edge on shots on frame. The physical game featured a combined 35 fouls and two cautions.

C of I continues their homestand next week, hosting Providence and Carroll College.
