SPRINGFIELD, Ore. –
Bekir Cinac ripped a go-ahead 25-yard laser into the left corner of the net with 10 minutes remaining, as the College of Idaho defeated Northwest Christian, 2-1, at Les Schwab Soccer Park.
The Coyotes (3-2, 1-1 CCC) salvaged a road split of their opening conference weekend – using a dominant 17-5 edge in total shots in the victory.
C of I started quickly, taking a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Cinac played a cross to the top of the 6-yard-box, finding the foot of
Jack O'Leary for the early strike.
Despite the Yotes having the run of the pitch, the Beacons (1-2, 1-1) got the equalizer just before the break, as Christopher Mai buried a 20-yard free kick around the C of I wall.
The score would remain tied until the 80th minute when Cinac found space and unloaded a one-timer into the upper corner of the net for the game-winner.
Parker Billings had to make just two saves in the win – as the Coyote defense limited NCU to just three total shots on frame.
After five road games to start the season, C of I makes their Simplot Stadium debut on Friday, hosting Eastern Oregon.
