LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State batters combined to hit four home runs on the afternoon, as the Warriors took Game 2 of a 4-game series with the College of Idaho, 11-5, at Ed Cheff Stadium.
Game 3 of the series, scheduled for this afternoon, was postponed due to rain. The two teams will make the game up as part of a Sunday doubleheader, starting at 11 a.m. (PT)
Thomas Lampkin Jr. went 4-for-5 with three doubles on the day for the Warriors (25-12-1, 17-7 NAIA West), who jumped out to a 10-1 lead and cruised to the victory.
Kyle Callahan hit a 2-run homer to cap a 4-run third inning for L-C, while an inning later, Darren Trainor slammed a 3-run shot to extend the lead to 7-0.
Jon Gonzalez got the Yotes (16-25, 10-12) first hit in the fifth inning – one of two hits on the day for the sophomore, scoring on a
Drew Ochsner sacrifice fly, to break up the shutout. C of I would add three runs in the seventh and another in the eighth – but could not get closer.
Justin Hammergren earned the win, allowing just one hit in five innings of work.
