LA GRANDE, Ore. - College of Idaho junior
Alex Martin was honored as the latest Red Lion-Cascade Conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office.
The Bend, Ore., native claimed an impressive victory in the 3,000-meters at the Cougar Open, hosted by Washington State, hitting the NAIA national mark in the event. Martin ran nearly the entire race alone - as the early pace established by the 31 other runners was well below the NAIA standard.
Martin and the Coyotes will close out the regular-season this Saturday at the Boise State Team Challenge inside the Ford Idaho Center's Jackson's Track.
