ASHLAND, Ore. –
Madison Holly scored a game-high 16 points,
Kaylee Krusemark added 12 second half points and the College of Idaho limited Southern Oregon to just 19-percent shooting after the break, as the Yotes ended a 13-game losing streak to the Raiders with a 59-52 victory in Lithia Motors Pavilion.
The win for the Coyotes (15-12, 11-8 CCC) was their first on SOU's home floor since 2012 and kept C of I's hopes for a home Cascade Conference Tournament quarterfinal game alive. A win tomorrow night at Oregon Tech, coupled with an Eastern Oregon win at Southern (16-9, 12-7) and a Northwest win at Multnomah would give the Yotes the No. 4 seed in the postseason and a rematch with SOU in Caldwell on Tuesday.
After holding a 29-22 lead at the half, the Raiders extended the margin to 34-26 on a Dominique Harding lay-up two minutes into the third quarter. C of I scored the next eight points – as two Holly lay-ups, coupled with buckets from
Jocelyn Cook-Cox and
Lindy Westendorf – got the Yotes even.
Krusemark took over from there – canning a pair of 3's and adding consecutive jumper early in the fourth quarter to give C of I a 48-46 lead. After Southern's Syd Fryer tied the score at 48-48 – the Coyotes limited the hosts to 1-of-14 shooting over the final five minutes, outscoring the hosts 11-4 to close out the victory.
The Yotes made 46-percent of their field goals in the second half in the victory and had a 47-44 edge on the glass.
Alyssa Case scored six points with 15 rebounds and three steals,
Emily Harwood scored six and Cook-Cox added five points and six boards – as C of I clinched their first winning season since 2013-14.
Delaney Sparling led SOU with 11 points, with Daranda Hinkey and Ariel Augustine each scoring nine. The Raiders forced 23 turnovers in the loss – but committed 18 of their own, leading to 12 C of I points.
C of I closes out the regular-season tomorrow night with a 5:30 p.m. (PT) tip at Oregon Tech.
