CALDWELL, Idaho –
Jack O'Leary scored a goal and assisted on another, as the College of Idaho earned a key 2-0 shutout victory over Carroll College at Simplot Stadium.
The Yotes (4-4, 2-3 CCC) used a 21-10 edge in total shots to their advantage, with C of I generating a season-high 10 corner kick opportunities.
After the opening 45 minutes was spent between the 18-yard-lines, C of I took control of much of the second half possession – generating the eventual game-winning goal in the 51st minute.
Lucas Thorne played a thru-ball to O'Leary down the right side, slotting a ball to the waiting
Ben Bechor at the top of the 6-yard-box – knocking home his team-high fourth goal of 2019.
O'Leary nearly made it 2-0 in the 58th minute, but could not convert a one-timer from the middle of the area. The junior, however, took advantage of a similar opportunity at the start of the 90th minute, collecting a rebound of a
Cole Fuller strike and ripping a right-footed blast into an open net.
Parker Billings made three saves on the day to complete the clean sheet for the Coyotes – their first-ever win against the Fighting Saints (4-5-1, 3-3).
C of I hits the road for their next four matches, beginning next weekend at Southern Oregon.
