CORVALLIS, Ore. - The College of Idaho women's soccer team has been named the "Under Armour Cascade Conference Team of the Week" for Oct. 21-27, the league office announced on Sunday.
Needing a big weekend to bolster their positioning in the conference standings, the Yotes (5-5-4, 4-4-2 CCC) put up their second-highest scoring output of the season in a 5-0 win over Evergreen on Friday and concluded the weekend on Saturday with a 2-1 overtime defeat of conference front-runner Northwest, which was previously unbeaten in CCC play.
Multiple standout performances highlighted the weekend for C of I, including a game-winning goal in the 100th minute on Saturday by
Brooklyn Ruwe, two goal weekends for
Cheyanne Rede and
Madison Glascock and a pair of assists for
Chloe Teets.
The wins moved the Yotes into the eighth spot in the conference standings, which would put the team in the CCC tournament if the season ended today.
A pivotal final weekend at home begins on Friday at 11 a.m. for C of I against Multnomah and continues with senior day on Sunday against Warner Pacific.
