COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. - Goals from
Ben Bechor and
Bekir Cinac lifted the College of Idaho to a key 2-1 Cascade Conference road victory at Walla Walla University.
The win helped the Yotes (6-5, 4-4 CCC) reach the .500 mark in league play for the first time since Sept. 21 - heading into Sunday's match-up at Rocky Mountain.
Bechor got the Yotes on the board in the 28th minute - collecting a rebound of his own shot and smashing a rope into the right corner of the net.
C of I had multiple chances to extend the lead - but Wolves (3-10, 1-7) keeper Kudzai Mhondiwa made 10 total saves on the day. The Coyotes extended the lead to 2-0 in the 58th minute, as Cinac followed a blocked shot from
Cole Fuller - slotting home the eventual game-winner.
WWU put pressure on the Yotes, but
Parker Billings made seven saves - taking a clean sheet into the 89th minute - before Vincent Weibel redirected a Emmett Semple free kick into the back of the net. However, the Wolves were unable to get the equalizer.
The Coyotes held a 21-11 edge in total shots, while both teams had six corner kicks.
