Coyote Men Drop 3-0 Decision at Rocky Mountain

BILLINGS, Mont. – Despite a career-high 13 saves from Parker Billings, the College of Idaho could not break through a stout Rocky Mountain defense, as the No. 14 ranked Battlin' Bears earned a 3-0 victory at Herb Klindt Field.

Rocky (6-2, 2-1 CCC) had a 27-11 edge in total shots – including 16 on frame – to earn the win.

The Yotes (1-3-1, 0-3) kept RMC at bay over the first 35 minutes, turning away 11 shot by the Bears – including five saves made by Billings. The hosts finally broke through in the 36th minute, as Mason Luce played a ball into the middle of the box, finding Nolan Sherwood for his seventh goal of the season.

RMC made it 2-0 in the 67th minute, as Sky Swenson made a nifty 35-yard run down the middle of the pitch and slotted home the goal. The Bears nearly made it 3-0 in the 70th minute, but Billings stymied Luse on a penalty kick.

C of I had a flurry late in the contest, getting five shots over a four-minute period, but Kristofer Wennin made four key saves. Rocky put the match away in the 86th minute, as Quique Garcia headed home a cross by Milo Downey to complete the scoring.

The two teams combined for 28 fouls with Rocky holding a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Yotes continue their long road trip next Thursday with a road match at Eastern Oregon.
