ASHLAND, Ore. – A hard tackle in the box led to a penalty kick goal for Southern Oregon, with the Raiders making the score hold up in a 1-0 victory over the College of Idaho at Raider Stadium.
Southern (5-2, 2-0 CCC) limited the Coyotes to just one shot on goal on the afternoon in picking up their fifth-straight win.
The Raiders held an 8-2 edge in first half shots, but C of I (1-2-1, 0-2) keeper
Parker Billings stopped all three opportunities on frame. SOU took advantage just three minutes into the second half, as reserve keeper
Zach Dean tripped up Paul Matyas in the penalty area – leading to a Michael Miller penalty kick – the lone goal on the day.
Dean kept the Yotes in the match, making five second half saves – with C of I having their best opportunity inside the final minute of play, as a
Jack O'Leary shot was stopped by Raiders keeper Wyatt Zabinski.
SOU finished with a dominating 19-3 edge in total shots and a 10-1 margin in corner kicks.
C of I continues on their seven-match road trip to start the 2018 season with a contest next Saturday at Rocky Mountain.
