Late Inning Rallies Lift NW Christian Past Lady Yotes

EUGENE, Ore. – Late rallies in both games of today's doubleheader lifted Northwest Christian to a sweep of the College of Idaho at James Park.

The Beacons (10-32, 6-18 CCC) scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning of Game 1 led to a 6-5 win, while the hosts scored four times in the sixth inning of Game 2 to win 8-6.

The Lady Yotes (19-22, 9-15) took a 5-4 lead in Game 1 on a Kylie Smith RBI single – one of her three hits in the contest, but NCU capitalized on a C of I error followed by an Anna Cardwell two-run single in the bottom of the frame. C of I put the tying run in scoring position in the seventh, but a strikeout and fly out ended the game.

C of I lost despite 11 hits – as Courtney Ellis and Jordan Maddox each had two hits.

The visitors rallied in Game 2 – tying the score in the fifth on a two-run Maddox homer and taking a 5-4 lead on a two-out Bentli Corti RBI double in the sixth.  The Beacons answered in the bottom of the inning – taking advantage of a walk and error to set the table, with Alyssa Gayle delivering the go-ahead two-run single.

Emily Aspden went 3-for-4 with Ellis and Marissa Maddox each recording two hits.

C of I returns home to close out the regular season next weekend against the University of Providence.
