Coyote Baseball Drops Two at Corban

SALEM, Ore. – Dominic Conigliaro went 4-for-8 with three RBI on the day, but it wasn't enough for the College of Idaho, as Corban University swept a doubleheader from the Yotes at Volcanoes Stadium.

The Warriors (25-20, 14-12) broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning en route to a 3-1 victory in Game 1, while using a pair of three-run innings in Game 2 for an 8-5 win.

C of I (11-35, 4-26) tied the game in the fifth on a Johnny Hyland RBI single, but Corban answered in the bottom of the inning, as Jarrett Thoren scored from third on a Josh Ebert infield single.

The loss spoiled a quality start from the Yotes Hunter Boyd, who allowed just two earned runs and fanned seven in seven strong innings. However, Kris Jackson limited C of I to just four hits in the complete game win.

In the late game, four different Corban batters recorded multi-hit games, including Daniel Freiburger's 3-for-4 effort. The Warriors built a 5-1 lead after five innings before Conigliaro doubled home a pair to cut the margin in half. However, the hosts batted around against the C of I bullpen in the seventh to put the game away – including a pinch-hit two-run single from Tanner Marsh.

The Yotes close out the 2018 season tomorrow as the two team play a doubleheader at 11 a.m. (PT)
