VANCOUVER, B.C. – The College of Idaho held 2-0 and 3-2 leads on the afternoon, but a two-run homer by British Columbia's Mitch Robinson proved to be the difference, as the T-Birds rallied for a 4-3 victory in the series finale at Thunderbird Park.
UBC (19-17, 13-7 NAIA West) completed a five-game sweep of the Yotes, as Braeden Allemann retired all 13 men he faced in relief to pick up the win.
The Coyotes (10-26, 3-17) scored twice in the opening inning, as
Johnny Hyland doubled and scored on a passed ball, with
Dominic Conigliaro hitting an opposite field solo homer.
The host T-Birds evened the score in the fourth on a Nolan Weger two-run single, only to see C of I answer back in the top of the fifth – as
Austin Van Horne singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch. However, Allemann came in and slammed the door – not allowing another Coyote base runner the rest of the way.
Robinson provided the big blow in the bottom of the inning – launching his fifth homer of the season over the centerfield wall.
K.J. Strickland had his best outing of the season for C of I, allowing four runs on nine hits, without a walk, in a complete game effort. Seven different Coyotes had one hit in the contest.
C of I looks to snap a seven-game losing streak next weekend with road games at Oregon Tech.
