MAGICAL RUN ENDS IN SEMIFINALS: A memorable season for the College of Idaho men's basketball team was stopped one game shy of a national championship appearance, as the University of Saint Francis used a big second half to stop the Yotes, 70-59, at the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championships in Sioux Falls,S.D. The Coyotes used a smothering defense throughout the tournament to advance through the first three rounds - holding Mayville State to just 39-percent shooting from the floor; limited a potent Dakota Wesleyan team to just 26-percent shooting from long range; while holding Marian to 41 points below their season scoring average in a 28-point win.
YOTES EARN NAISMITH AWARD: Following the NAIA championship game, Championship Event Director Mark Burchard and Tournament Director Tim Evans named the Coyotes the 2018 Dr. James Naismith/Emil Liston Team Sportsmanship Award. The honor is given each season to one of the 32 teams in the tournament that best exhibits respect, civility, integrity and fair play.
