One-Run Games Go Against Lady Yotes at EOU

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon completed a four-game sweep of the College of Idaho, winning a pair of one-run games this afternoon at Peggy Anderson Field.

The Mountaineers (14-8, 9-2 CCC) earned a 2-1 victory in the opener and picked up a walk-off 7-6 victory in the nightcap.

Game 1 was a pitchers' duel between EOU's Hailey Kline and the Yotes (13-13, 4-8) Colette Robert – as Kline fanned eight and Robert struck out seven in complete game efforts.

The Mounties broke through with two fifth-inning runs – one and a Chelsea Spanier fielders' choice and another on a two-out RBI single from Shevan Defreitas. C of I answered with a solo homer from Taylor Eakle in the seventh, but could not plate the tying run.

The late game was all C of I early – as a Marissa Maddox lined an RBI single, Robert delivered a run with a bases loaded walk and Kylie White doubled in two runs in a big first inning for the visitors. The margin would grow to 6-1 in the fifth – as Robert lined an RBI single and Bentli Corta came through with a sacrifice fly.

EOU answered in the fifth, as a Madison Barr two-run double capped a five-run inning to pull the hosts even, with Brandi Bowling delivering a walk-off RBI single in the seventh to complete the comeback.

White was 3-for-4 and Robert went 3-for-3 in the loss for the Yotes.

C of I returns home this weekend for a key four-game series vs. Northwest University.
