Yotes Softball Drop Two to Oregon Tech

CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho softball team dropped two games to Oregon Tech - 4-2 in the first game and 9-4 in the second - earlier today at Symms Field. They fall to 11-6 overall and 2-3 in Cascade Conference play.

Oregon Tech jumped out early in the first game, going up 3-0 in the first inning. They tacked on two more in the sixth inning - making the score 4-0 - before the Yotes were able to respond.

Trystin Crofts kicked things off for the Yotes, knocking one over the left field fence to make the score 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh. One batter later, Taylor Eakle sent one out of the park over center field to make the score 4-2.

Up next, Kristin Paulazzo reached first on a dropped fly ball and Courtney Ellis reached on a single to center field while Jordan Maddox walked to fill the bases. The Yotes comeback fell short when Delaney Atkins flied out to centerfield.

The Yotes out-hit the Owls 7-5 in the first game, led by Kristin Paulazzo with two hits. On defense, Maddox led the way with nine put-outs while Paulazzo picked up four assists.

The Owls jumped out early again in the second game, picking up three runs in the first inning and tacking another on in the third inning.

In the bottom of the third, Maddox singled to center field, and it was good enough to send Paulazzo home to make the score 4-1. The Owls responded with a run in the fourth, the fifth and two runs in the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth, Ellis singled to center field before making it to second when Maddox grounded out. Later, Atkins made it to first on a dropped fly ball, allowing Ellis to run home for a score of 9-2. Up next, Crofts had her second homer of the day to make the score 9-4.

The Yotes were out-hit 10-6 in the second game. Ellis led in hits with three while Crofts led in RBI with two. Maddox led in put-outs again with nine.

The Yotes are back in action again tomorrow at Symms Field for two more games against Oregon Tech. The first game is set to start at 11 a.m.
