NAMPA, Idaho – College of Idaho women's throwers recorded three Top-5 finishes in both the 20-pound weight throw and shot put events, as the Lady Yotes opened in the indoor track and field season at the Jackson's Open inside the Ford Idaho Center's Jackson's Track.
Freshman Meg Buxton opened the day with a second-place finish in the shot put – winning her flight with a mark of 11.67 meters (38 feet, 3.5 inches). Teammate
Kabre Madrigal placed fourth (11.59 m / 38-0), with
Robin Camp taking fifth (11.58 m / 38-0).
Camp also had a stellar season debut in the weight throw, placing second overall (13.54 m / 44-5), with freshman Catylynn Duff taking fourth in her debut (13.08 m / 42-11) and Madrigal in fifth (13.06 m / 42-10).
Duff added a mark of 10.65 meters (34-11) in the shot put, with Buxton recording a heave of 10.90 meters (35-9) in the weight throw.
Three others competed in both events – Dreakeanna Adair (11.43 m / 37-6 in the shot put; 11.41 m / 37-5 in the weight throw);
Maddie Villarreal (10.13 m / 33-3 in the shot put, 12.13 m / 39-9 in the weight throw); and AaLea Kolb (9.70 m / 31-10 in the shot put, 10.99 m / 36-0 in the weight throw).
C of I returns to action in mid-January, beginning a four-week stretch of meets in Nampa.
