COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. –
Madison Holly tied a career-high with 21 points and the College of Idaho defense tied a school record for fewest points allowed in a conference game, as the Lady Yotes dominated Walla Walla University, 90-32, at Windemuth Courth.
All 12 players in uniform for the Lady Yotes (5-7, 3-3 CCC) had at least two points and one rebound – with C of I reaching the 90-point mark for the first time in three seasons – with the 32 points allowed the fewest by a C of I opponent since 2011.
C of I used a 30-2 run spanning the first two quarters – holding the Wolves (2-12, 1-4) to just one made field goal over a 13 minute stretch – to take a 35-7 lead with three minutes left in the half. Holly scored eight points,
Emily Harwood had seven and
Alyssa Case added six points in the run.
The Coyotes put the game away in the third quarter – converting their first six field goals in the period – as Case started the 15-2 run with a 3-pointer and Holly ended the surge with consecutive triples, stretching the margin to 55-15. C of I finished the half converting 17-of-27 field goals and made a season-best 53-percent of their field goal attempts on the night.
Harwood scored 15 points, Case had 12 points and four of the Yotes 20 steals, with
Lindy Westendorf recording season-highs with seven points and six rebounds.
Hannah Maupin,
Kiersten Rasmussen and
Aidrie Voile each scored six in the win. The Yotes held a commanding 47-22 edge in rebounding and forced 25 turnovers.
Carolina Montes scored 19 of WWU's 32 points, as the Wolves were limited to just 24-percent shooting from the field. The 32 points scored by the hosts equaled the fewest by a C of I opponent in league play – joining the 32 points tallied by Eastern Oregon in a Coyote 45-32 win in the 1998-99 season.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. (PT)
