PORTLAND, Ore. –
Brenden Kenley slotted home the go-ahead goal just before halftime, as the College of Idaho used a dominating performance to keep their postseason hopes alive, stopping Multnomah University, 4-1, at Eastside Timbers Soccer Complex.
The Yotes (4-6-2, 3-6-1 CCC) held a 30-2 edge in total shots – limiting MU to just one shot on goal in the victory.
An early goal by the Lions (4-10, 2-8) Noe Favila – an 18-yard bender into the top shelf – just two minutes into the contest, forced C of I into a comeback mode.
C of I pulled even early in the 21st minute – as
Andrew Lauritzen was fouled in the box and
Ahmet Huremovic drove home the ensuing penalty kick. The Yotes grabbed the lead with 90 seconds left in the half, as following a combination of passes on the right side of the pitch,
Jack O'Leary played a pretty cross to the top of the six-yard-box, finding an unmarked
Brenden Kenley for the go-ahead counter.
The Yotes added two insurance goals midway through the second half – as
Bekir Cinac volleyed home a
Ben Bechor cross in the 74th minute and two minutes later, Huremovic played a cross through traffic, with
Jacob Hurter blasting home the finish.
Parker Billings and
Zach Dean shared the 90 minutes in goal – with C of I holding seven of the 10 corner kick chances.
C of I returns to action tomorrow, meeting Warner Pacific at 4:30 p.m. (PT)
