PORTLAND, Ore. –
Ben Bechor scored a pair of goals to lead the College of Idaho to a critical 4-3 road victory at Warner Pacific.
The win for the Coyotes (5-6-2, 4-6-1 CCC) moved the team into ninth-place in the league standings heading into the final weekend of the regular-season – keeping the squads postseason hopes alive.
C of I scored the first three goals of the match – with the Yotes taking advantage of a WPU own goal early in the contest for a 1-0 lead – with Bechor driving home a penalty kick after
Cole Fuller was fouled in the box.
The visitors pushed the lead to 3-0 after
Lucas Thorne played a nice combination to
Bekir Cinac – finding an open Bechor for a finish to the right corner of the net.
After the Knights (6-9-1, 4-6-1) pulled within 3-2, C of I earned a second penalty kick after
Ahmet Huremovic was fouled in the area – with
Matthew Sammartino finishing the effort from the spot.
No official stats were provided by WPU as of early Sunday AM.
The Yotes return home next weekend – hosting Northwest on Friday and Evergreen on Sunday.
