EUGENE, Ore. – The College of Idaho hit a season-high 10 3-point baskets and erased a 14-point third quarter deficit, but No. 15 Northwest Christian closed the game on an 8-0 run to outlast the Lady Yotes, 64-56, inside the Morse Event Center.
The Beacons (15-2, 8-2 CCC) built a 47-33 lead on a Morgan McKinney lay-up with 3:42 left in the third quarter – only to see the Lady Yotes catch fire. Consecutive triples from
Sophia Jackson,
Keahi Roy and
Hannah Maupin started a 15-2 run to close the frame – with two Maupin free throws pulling the Yotes (3-13, 3-7) within 49-48.
The visitors drew even at 56-56 on a free throw line jumper from
Lindy Westendorf with 3:42 to play – but C of I did not score again. Niki Duncan drained a 3-pointer and McKinney converted a basket on the block – with the Beacons converting free throws down the stretch to claim the win.
Roy led the Yotes with 15 points and Jackson scored a career-high 13 points in the loss – as C of I made a season-best 10-of-19 from outside the arc, including 5-of-6 treys in their 25-point third quarter. Maupin had eight points, Westendorf had six points and eight rebounds, with
Alyssa Case scoring five points and tying a career-high with six steals.
Anamaria Virjoghe led all scorers with 18 points for NCU, with McKinney scoring 13 and Duncan 12.
C of I returns to action tomorrow night, traveling to Corban for a 5:30 p.m. (PT) tip.
