Lady Yotes Pick Up Huge Overtime Win at Corban

SALEM, Ore. – Keahi Roy scored seven of her 13 points in overtime helping the College of Idaho outlast Corban University, 58-53, inside C.E. Jeffers Center.

The junior canned a deep 3-pointer with three minutes remaining in the extra session to give the Lady Yotes (4-13, 4-7 CCC) a 50-48 lead – an edge they would not relinquish.

Jocelyn Cook-Cox led C of I with a career-high 16 points and added two freebies to extend the lead, with Roy adding consecutive contested lay-ups to keep the Warriors (9-11, 5-8) at bay.

C of I jumped out to a 15-9 lead after the first quarter, with an Alyssa Case lay-up early in the second stanza giving the visitors their largest lead of the night at 20-10. Corban would answer – holding the Yotes without a made field goal for the final eight minutes of the half, pulling within 21-20 at the break.

Corban used a 9-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to take a 35-30 lead, only to see Cook-Cox score four quick points and Roy drain a trio of free throws to give the Yotes a two-point margin.  Tied 44-44 inside the final 30 seconds, Case connected on a fade-away 10-footer to give C of I a 46-44 lead, but Jordan Woodvine answered with a driving lay-up to send the game to an extra session.

Coox-Cox added seven rebounds and four steals, making 6-of-9 from the foul line in the victory. Lindy Westendorf had eight points and 13 rebounds, Madison Holly scored eight points – including two key free throws to clinch the win inside the final 30 seconds of overtime – and Case scored six points, with five rebounds and five steals.  C of I forced 23 turnovers and logged a season-high 16 steals.

Woodvine came off the bench for Corban to score 12 points – as the Warriors lost despite a 52-36 edge on the glass. C of I limited the hosts to just 32-percent shooting from the field.

The Lady Yotes return to Caldwell to start at five-game homestand beginning Wednesday against No. 8 ranked Eastern Oregon.
