LEWISTON, Idaho – Three College of Idaho players had two-hit games and
Ryan Murkle smashed his third homer of the season, but the Coyotes could not withstand a 15-hit Lewis-Clark State attack, as the Warriors won Game 1 of a weekend series, 14-2, at Ed Cheff Stadium.
Connor Brogdon fanned 10 batters to earn the victory, as LCSC (28-12, 15-7) pitchers combined to fan 17 C of I hitters.
The Warriors struck early, as Micah Brown and J.J. Robinson each hit two-run home runs in the first inning to build a quick 4-0 lead. Murkle's home run pulled C of I within 5-1 in the fifth, but Brock Ephan ripped a three-run shot in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 8-1, with L-C breaking the game wide open with a 6-run seventh inning.
Robinson finished 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBI, with Emilio Alcantar and Seaver Whalen each adding three hits.

Hunter Hanson and
Dalton Ridgway each had two hits in the loss for the Yotes (19-22, 12-12) – who used seven pitchers in the contest.
The two teams continue the series tomorrow morning with a 10 a.m. doubleheader.
