VANCOUVER, B.C. – Connor Noble and Aidan Goodall combined on an eight-hit shutout, as British Columbia opened a four-game weekend series with a 7-0 victory over College of Idaho at Thunderbird Park.
The T-Birds (17-8, 7-5 NAIA West) snapped a three-game losing streak with the home win, as Noble fanned six and Goodall three – as the Coyotes were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position on the afternoon.
UBC opened the scoring in the first on a Mackenzie Parlow sacrifice fly, adding four second inning runs – including a two-run triple from Tyler Yorko. The T-Birds capped the scoring in the fourth, as Vinny Martin tripled home two runs.
Yorko and Griffy Goyer each had two hits for UBC, while
Austin Van Horne and
Dalton Ridgway had two hits for the Coyotes (14-16, 7-6).
Bobby Wright was 1-for-4 for C of I, extending his hit streak to 12 games, while
Jake Eddy tossed five-plus innings of two-hit ball in relief, striking out six.
The two teams play the middle games of the series tomorrow, with the doubleheader set for 1 p.m. (PDT)
NOTE – UBC had three triples in the contest, equaling the most triples a C of I team has allowed in program history – joining Eastern Oregon, who had three three-base hits against the Yotes in 1987.
