CALDWELL, Idaho –
Alyssa Case scored a game-high 16 points and
Keahi-lele Roy added 15 for the College of Idaho, but Lewis-Clark State made 53-percent of their field goal attempts in an 84-48 victory over the Lady Yotes in the consolation game of the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic.
Montana Western claimed the tournament title for the second-straight year, 79-65 over Eastern Oregon, behind a school-record 37 points from Brianna King.
The Warriors (6-2) bolted out to a 12-0 lead over the first five minutes – including a pair of buckets from Brittany Tackett – and Hailey Turner scored six-straight points in a 13-0 run to open the second quarter, as L-C took a 31-7 lead and were never headed.
Trailing 45-20 at the break, the Lady Yotes (0-6) outscored LCSC 14-12 – as Case and Roy combined for nine of the 14 points – but could not get closer.
Five L-C players scored in double-figures, with Tackett and Abbie Johnson each scoring 14 to lead the preseason No. 2 ranked team in the NAIA Division I.
Madison Holly had seven points and
Adriana Vickery added six in the loss for C of I, with
Lindy Westendorf grabbing 11 rebounds and
Sophia Jackson recording a season-high seven boards. The Yotes finished just 17-of-62 from the field and were held under 50 points for the fifth time in six games.
C of I opens up Cascade Conference play next weekend with games Saturday at Oregon Tech and Sunday at Southern Oregon – with both games set for 6 p.m. tip-offs.
