KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Amanda Constant missed a game-tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer as the College of Idaho opened Cascade Conference play with a stunning 52-49 victory at Oregon Tech inside Danny Miles Court.
The Lady Yotes (1-6, 1-0 CCC), playing their first non-NAIA Division I opponent of the season, erased an 11-point first quarter deficit and held off OIT to end a six-game losing streak.
Madison Holly canned two big 3-pointers late in the contest – one breaking a 42-42 tie, the second to push the C of I lead to 48-44.
Keahi-lele Roy added a driving bucket as the shot clock expired with 1:10 remaining to give the visitors a 50-46 lead – with C of I holding off the late Owls (5-4, 0-1) rally.
OIT closed the first quarter on a 14-0 run to take a 19-8 lead, only to see C of I score the first 12 points of the second quarter – getting a deuce and a trey from
Adriana Vickery, an
Alyssa Case triple and lay-up and a
Lindy Westendorf bucket to regain the lead at 20-19. The lead for either team did not climb higher than four the rest of the way.
Roy led the Yotes with 11 points, with Case and Holly each finishing with nine. Westendorf had seven points and eight rebounds, as C of I forced 20 turnovers – cashing in for 21 points.
Megan Morris had a game-high 16 points for the Owls, with Constant scoring 10 points and adding 13 rebounds.
C of I returns to action tomorrow afternoon, traveling to No. 12 ranked Southern Oregon for a 4 p.m. (PT) tip.
