SALEM, Ore. – A career-high 12 saves from College of Idaho keeper
Grant Billings wasn't enough, as No. 6 ranked Corban peppered 32 shots – converting three – in a 3-1 victory at the CFC Complex.
Billings did his part for the Coyotes (7-6, 4-5 CCC) – making eight first half saves and nearly took a lead into the break.
C of I grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, as
Carter Perry played a cross into the area, finding the foot of
Daniel Camargo, slotting home the opening goal into the left corner of the net.
The Yotes got unlucky on a pair of occasions midway through the period, as in the 20th minute,
Bekir Cinac clanged a shot off the post, while in the 42nd minute,
Ben Bechor followed suit, ripping a shot off the iron.
Inside the final 30 seconds of the half, the Warriors (11-1-2, 9-1-1) finally cracked the code, as Billings stuffed a Timur Zhividze shot, but Armando Lopez collected the rebound and touched home the equalizer.
Corban had the run of the pitch in the second 45 – taking the lead in the 56th minute when Zhividze played a cross to the top of the 6-yard-box to the foot of Alex Segovia who flicked home the counter. The Warriors tacked on an insurance goal in the 75th minute, as Zhividze converted a cross from Miguel Naves.
The hosts finished with a 32-14 edge in total shots and had six of the seven corner kicks in the contest.
