CALDWELL, Idaho –
Carter Perry scored a goal and assisted on another, as the College of Idaho earned three huge points in the Cascade Conference table with a 3-1 victory over Eastern Oregon at Simplot Stadium.
The win for the Yotes (8-6, 5-5 CCC) snapped a three-game losing streak and vaulted C of I ahead of EOU in the league standings with just three matches remaining.
Perry got C of I on the board in the 14th minute – as on a counter attack,
Brenden Kenley played a long through ball to Perry, who beat Mountaineers (7-6-1, 4-5-1) keeper Francisco Flores to the short side for the early tally.
The Yotes tacked on a big goal just before halftime, as
Cole Fuller was fouled in the box at the end of the 44th minute. Senior
Guilherme Siqueira converted from the penalty spot for the 2-0 lead.
Early in the second half, C of I extended the margin to 3-0 – as Perry played a ball down the right side to Fuller, who launched a cross into the area to the unmarked
Jacob Hurter – who blasted home his third goal of the season.
EOU pressed the rest of the way – as both Julian Wells and Steven Beaudry clanged shots off the post – eventually getting a Josh Goodman unassisted goal from 18-yards out in the 74th minute. However, the Coyote back third held strong to remain unbeaten all time against Eastern in Caldwell.
The Mounties held a 13-7 edge in total shots with both teams recording four corner kicks.
The Yotes close out the home schedule on Sunday, hosting Warner Pacific at Noon.
