CALDWELL, Idaho –
Cole Fuller assisted on all three College of Idaho goals, as the Coyotes completed a winning homestand with a 3-1 victory over Walla Walla University at Simplot Stadium.
The Yotes (6-3, 3-2 CCC) closed out a five match home stretch with a 3-2 mark – using a goal inside the first two minutes of the match to take control.
Ben Bechor got C of I on the board in the second minute, as
Bekir Cinac played a long ball down the right side to Fuller, who served a cross into the middle of the six-yard box. Bechor slotted home the sitter for the early lead.
Despite a commanding 17-3 edge in first half shots, C of I couldn't add to their lead – as an offside trap by the Wolves (0-8, 0-7) kept the Coyotes off balance.
Ahmet Huremovic clanged the cross bar on a 25-yard blast and
Jacob Hurter was turned away by a diving Tomcho Kohl save late in the period.
The Coyotes made it 2-0 early in the second half, as
Brenden Kenley touched home a perfect cross by Fuller, while in the 74th minute, Fuller played a short corner to Cinac, who crossed a perfect ball to Hurter in the area, finishing to the top right corner for the score.
WWU broke up the shutout in the 88th minute, as Zac Christensen ripped a 30-yard strike over C of I keeper
Parker Billings' into the upper 90 for the goal.
C of I held a 36-10 overall shot advantage and had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Yotes will play their next four matches on the road, beginning Friday in Great Falls vs. the University of Providence.
