SALEM, Ore. – Despite a 22-point effort from
Petra Lumpert, the College of Idaho could not overcome a late scoring drought, as Corban University outlasted the Lady Yotes, 76-66, inside the C.E. Jeffers Center.
After C of I pulled within 63-62 with just over seven minutes remaining on a
Kiara Skinner jumper, the host Warriors (12-7, 6-5 CCC) did not allow another made field goal, outscoring the Yotes 13-4 the rest of the way – limiting the visitors 0-of-7 shooting and three turnovers in crunch time.
The Yotes (6-11, 6-5) had their rhythm early, erasing a 14-5 deficit with an 11-2 run – including a trey from Skinner and a pair of Lumpert baskets. C of I would pull ahead 33-28 on a
Madison Pilster rebound bucket late in the second quarter, but Corban closed the half on a 12-2 run, including eight Payton Wilcox points to lead 40-35 at the break. The Lady Yotes would pull even on a Skinner jumper early in the fourth quarter at 60-60, but were unable to get over the hill.
Skinner finished with 18 points for C of I, with
Maddie Skaggs adding nine points and Pilster scoring eight.
Maddey Pflaumer scored 22 points, on 11-of-12 shooting, to lead the Warriors, with Wilcox scoring 21. Corban had a 47-33 edge on the glass, including 20 offensive boards.
C of I has a quick turnaround, traveling tomorrow for a 1 p.m. tip-off at Northwest Christian.
