EUGENE, Ore. –
Petra Lumpert scored a season-high 26 points, but Northwest Christian hit a school record tying 17 3-point baskets in an 88-75 victory inside the Morse Event Center.
The Beacons (12-7, 9-3 CCC) got 28 points from Niki Duncan, including a school-record eight 3-pointers in the victory, jumping out to a 32-12 first quarter lead and never saw the margin go below double-digits.
Duncan hit triples on four-straight first quarter possessions, going a perfect 6-of-6 from outside the arc in the period to stake NCU to the early lead. C of I would whittle the lead to 54-40 at the break after a 12-3 run to end the half, including eight-straight
Jaycin Tini points.
The Yotes (6-12, 6-6) would get within 10 points on three occasions in the third quarter, the last after a 19-foot
Maddie Skaggs jumper. Duncan answered with a trey and a runner – the start of a 10-2 run that put the game away.
Jenna Christenson scored 19 points – including four 3-pointers – and Jeni Hoffert scored 16 to help the Beacons charge. NCU won despite 27 turnovers.
Lumpert made 12-of-16 free throws for C of I in the loss, with Skaggs contributing 14 points and seven rebounds;
