Fourth Quarter Run Lifts OIT Past Lady Yotes, 69-54

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A big fourth quarter surge helped Oregon Tech hold off the College of Idaho, 69-54, in a Cascade Conference women's basketball showdown at Danny Miles Court.

The Owls (14-5, 7-2 CCC) broke a 48-44 game open in the final period with a 15-4 run – ending C of I's five-game win streak.  A Madison Pilster 3-point play got the Lady Yotes (6-9, 6-3) within four points, but a Morgan Roberts-Ili baseline jumper, followed by an Ashleigh Vandenbrink triple pushed the margin to 53-44. A pair of Nohea Waiwaiole and Roberts-Ili baskets capped the run, as Tech took a 63-48 lead with two minutes remaining.

The Owls opened the game on a 15-3 run, as C of I missed eight of their first nine shots. The Lady Yotes picked up the defensive pressure – forcing five quick OIT turnovers over a five minute stretch, outscoring the hosts 16-2, with a Petra Lumpert 3-point play giving the Yotes a 19-17 lead with eight minutes left in the first half.

OIT turned the tables, using a 10-0 run to regain the lead at 29-22 at the break – pushing the margin to 38-24 early in the third quarter after a Waiwaiole 3-point play. C of I answered again, scoring 11-straight points, getting five of Jaycin Tini's 13 points in the run to get back in the game.

Bailey Nelson led OIT with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, with Roberts-Ili adding 16 points and eight rebounds.

Pilster had 13 points and four steals, Lumpert scored 10 and Alyssa Case had nine points, six rebounds and five steals in the loss for C of I.

The Lady Yotes return to action tomorrow afternoon, traveling to No. 4 ranked Southern Oregon for a 1 p.m. (PT) tip.
