COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – A dominating 90 minutes by the College of Idaho helped the Coyotes pick up their first Cascade Conference win of the season, cruising past Walla Walla University, 8-0, at University Field.
The Yotes (2-3, 1-1 CCC) held a 46-2 edge in total shots and had all 10 corner kicks in the contest – the 46 shots the third-most in program history and most since 2001 – while it was the 16th time C of I has scored eight or more goals in a game.
Six different players scored a goal in the game, with
Tyler Sharp scoring the opening salvo in the 19th minute with an unassisted strike inside the box.
Cole Fuller scored the first of two goals in the 39th minute, while opening a second half barrage with an unassisted score in the 53rd minute. A minute later, Sharp found
Daniel Carmago for a goal, and just two minutes later, leading scorer
Guilherme Siqueira struck on an unassisted goal for his fifth counter of the season.
An own goal pushed C of I's lead to 6-0, with
Kyler Auernhamer scoring off a
Tyler Greener feed in the 76th minute and Fuller finding
Miguel Nunez from 20 yards out, bending a shot in the top left corner of the net in the final 90 seconds to cap the scoring.
Grant Billings made one first half save and faced both Wolves (0-3, 0-3) shots, with
Lucas MacMillan playing the second half and posted a completely clean sheet.
The Yotes return to action tomorrow night with a road match at Multnomah University.
