BILLINGS, Mont. – Playing on the road against the No. 8 ranked team in the NAIA, the College of Idaho gave a game effort, but narrowly fell to Rocky Mountain College, 2-1, at Wendy's Field.
After spotting the Bears (4-3, 1-0 CCC) a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute on a Nolan Sherwood goal, C of I countered in the 36th minute as leading scorer
Guilherme Siqueira converted a free kick outside the penalty area to even the scorer.
RMC scored the game-winner just before the break, as Alexander Taylor scored an unassisted goal in the 44th minute.
The Yotes (2-2, 0-1) put pressure on the Rocky defense in the final 10 minutes of the second half, including an
Irvin Brown shot inside the final 45 seconds was saved by keeper Cole Catlin.
Rocky held a 13-6 edge in total shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Grant Billings made four saves in the loss for the Coyotes, with Siqueira leading the team with two shots.
The Coyotes return to action next weekend with road matches at Walla Walla and Multnomah.
