Lady Yotes Celebrate Senior Day With Big Win

CALDWELL, Idaho – Haylee Burnham made the most of her Senior Night, scoring 11 points and recording a career-high seven steals, helping the College of Idaho run their win streak to three with a 71-57 victory over Multnomah University inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
 
The win for the Lady Yotes (8-15, 7-10 CCC) clinched a berth in the Cascade Conference Championships and kept the squad tied with Northwest for seventh-place in the league standings.
 
One of seven seniors playing their final home game, Burnham led a spirited C of I defensive effort, holding the Lions (4-20, 2-14) to just 3-of-20 from outside the arc and forcing 28 turnovers – leading to 36 Coyote points.
 
Leading 38-34 at halftime, C of I blitzed MU in the first four minutes of the third quarter – forcing seven turnovers during the span.  Kiara Skinner, Petra Lumpert and Burnham all scored off Lions miscues, part of a 12-1 run that gave the Yotes a 48-33 lead.
 
MU opened the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run to get within 59-48, but could not get closer.
 
All 11 C of I players in uniform scored, including the five seniors in the starting lineup – Burnham, Kellie Ross (5 points, 3 rebounds), Emily Rainboth (5 points, 2 rebounds), Ashleigh Blalock (4 points, 2 rebounds) and Kylie Farwell (1 point, 3 rebounds).  Lumpert added 11 points and Skinner had six points and a team-high seven boards as the Yotes improved to 8-2 when scoring 70 or more points in a game.
 
Lexie Govert had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions, Bethany George scored 11, with Lacie Kamper scoring eight points with a game-high 14 rebounds.
 
C of I hits the road for the final three games – beginning next Saturday at Oregon Tech.
