KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Despite three players in double figures, the College of Idaho could not overcome a big third quarter run from Oregon Tech, as the Owls rallied for a 75-60 victory over the Lady Yotes at Danny Miles Court.
OIT (21-6, 14-3 CCC) erased a 36-32 C of I lead, closing the third quarter on a 17-4 run to earn the home court win.
After spotting the Owls a 6-0 lead in the first 90 seconds, the Lady Yotes (8-16, 7-11) got six quick points from
Petra Lumpert and eight straight points from
Jaycin Tini, part of an 18-5 run to take their biggest lead of the night at 18-11. The two teams traded three lead changes and four ties in the second quarter, before Tech took a 30-29 lead to the locker room.
A long
Ryleigh Swagerty triple early in the third quarter helped C of I build a 36-32 with seven minutes left in the period, but Tess Armstrong make back-to-back buckets and an Ashleigh Vandenbrink triple gave OIT the lead for good – extending the margin by holding the Yotes without a made field goal for the final four minutes of the quarter.
Swagerty led C of I with 18 points, with Tini scoring 16 points and six rebounds off the bench and Lumpert scoring 14 points with a team-high seven rebounds.
Armstrong led OIT with 16 points, as the Owls made 68-percent of their field goals in the second half.
The Lady Yotes close out the road swing with a 1 p.m. (PT) meeting at No. 6 ranked Southern Oregon.
