LA MIRADA, Calif. – Despite a three-hit day from
Bobby Wright, the College of Idaho could not overcome 11 men stranded on the base paths in a 6-4 loss to Bethesda University at Eagle Diamond.
A four-run fourth inning by the Flames (9-8) gave the NCCAA Independent a lead they would not relinquish.
The Yotes (12-3) got a run back on a two-run RBI single from
Devon Pogue in the fourth, adding RBI singles from
Jake Bowman and Wright in the sixth – but could not get closer. C of I stranded runners in scoring position in each of the last six innings of the game.
Wright was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, with
Sam Grise,
Mitch Skaggs and Cole Mansanerez each recording two hits – Mansanerez extending his hit streak to 14 games.
Dalton Ridgway took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in three-plus innings of work, striking out five.
C of I continues their road swing next weekend, opening NAIA West North Division action with a four-game series at Corban.
